Since June 7, we’ve been in the muddy slog of the retrograde, retracing our steps and dealing with an enforced slowdown. If your mind has been complete mush, you’ll be happy to know that Mercury, the planet in charge of communication, finally goes direct on July 1.
Your instinct might be to jump in immediately, getting back to whatever it is that you had to put on hold during the first week of June. It’s true that you can now move forward, but heed the shadow of the retrograde: the 10-day period between the day Mercury goes direct (on the 1st) and the day that it’s back to “normal” speed.
With Mercury returning to direct motion in its home sign of Gemini, the sensations are doubled, much like The Twins of this sign’s glyph. When direct, Mercury in Gemini is at its best, flowing with a rhythm that can make you ridiculously productive and mentally alert.

Luckily, by mid-July you’ll be back to a speedy state, with your intellect in tip-top shape. The only problem with Mercury in Gemini is that sometimes your mouth opens faster than your mind composes your thoughts. You can definitely succumb to thinking before speaking.
As Mercury warms up and moves back to full speed during the first 10 days of July, pay close attention to the way your thoughts and emotions interact. Expect them to feel a bit jumbled for a little while.
A good way to work through the transition is to dust off your journal and do some free-writing each night before bed, or first thing in the morning. Literally collect your thoughts on the pages before you. You’ll find the clarity you’ve been missing -- post haste!
