Creativity and Your Child's Well-Being

Helping your child find their center -- the pathway to their soul -- is best done through nurturing their creativity. Each sign has its own way of expressing what lies deep within your child's self.

Aries
Aries is a romancer, a dreamer -- but their vision always involves action. They'll adore sharing tales of daring-do, knights on white chargers rescuing princesses, or spaceships dashing to the rescue. Let them write it or paint it -- and then, let them act it out!

Taurus
The Bull is a doer and needs practical crafts to bring out their artistic bent. They'll take to carpentry, carving toy whistles or making useful boxes for the house. Give them a lump of clay or wax and they'll magically whip up a sculpture in no time. Taurus kids also love to sing.

Gemini
The Twins are all about words, words, words -- the more the merrier. They'll happily write down their favorite stories ... and then be even happier to tell you all about them! They'll go for quantity over quality, and width over depth, but that's simply their way.

Cancer
Cancer children just adore being creative at home, so get them cooking early and they'll flourish. Designing clothes is also their special talent, plus rearranging furniture, choosing wallpaper and finding the right flowers to set it all off.

Leo
The Lion is highly creative, so writing or painting suit them equally well. But most of all, they need to perform! Set up a mini-theater with sets, costumes and a script, and they'll really come into themselves. The more flamboyant the role, the better –- and of course, an audience is a necessity.

Virgo
Virgo kids can be reluctant to stop reading or working long enough to do anything artistic, so they need to be tempted. Writing is really their thing, so short stories -- especially about their favorite animals -- will keep them happy. They're also keen gardeners, so take them out to the yard and let their creativity take root!

Libra
Libra youngsters love beautiful things, though they may need to be reminded they can actually produce them. They speak well, and therefore will write well. Try aiming them toward their special strength, design -- whether of clothes or interiors.

Scorpio
Scorpio children have so much to express, they don't know where to start. A box of vibrant paints, including the darker shades, will help bring their emotions to life. They'll also write fantasy stories that may make your hair curl, but they'll be in seventh heaven.

Sagittarius
The Archer is restless and excitable, so their creative pursuits need to harness their high-octane energy. If you can sit them still long enough, they'll pen adventurous tales of faraway places. Along with words, they need grandeur and colour in their lives, so give them paints and let them splatter the canvas.

Capricorn
Capricorns are often old-soul children -- too serious for their own good, not natural players or creators themselves. But they often have vivid imaginations and a way of turning their ideas into solid objects. Prompt them to paint, sculpt or write until they find their talent.

Aquarius
Aquarius are wordsmiths, so they're bound to write well. Try to also steer them toward painting, so they can create compelling images to accompany their smooth wordplay. Oddly, they'll also like playing with clothes and creating color clashes that'll make you scream -- but they'll revel in it!

Pisces
When motivated, Pisces kids are perhaps the most creative of all the Sun signs, whether with music, paint or photography. Buy them a musical instrument, a box of crayons or even a camera, and watch them get carried away. They may have talents of which they never dreamed, but odds are they'll need to be prodded and given confidence.
